i got one of performance only's honing plates for bb mopar. i torqued an edelbrock head to a bare block (bored, not honed yet), and measured cylinder distortion from underneath (main caps torqued in place). i removed the head and torqued dan's plate, and the cylinders measured exactly the same as they did with the edelbrock head. good job dan!!!!

Did you measure it with no plate or head installed?

yes. it was bored with no plate. they are darn near perfect with nothing torqued to the block. the distortion varied significantly from cylinder to cylinder. a couple of 'em were almost .002 out. the distortion is worst at the top of the cylinders, adjacent to each head bolt hole.

thank you for the feedback. i really appreciate it.
i think you've just confirmed our claims of our torque plates accurately reproducing the distortion the cylinder head produces. thank you for taking the time not only to test it, but to post the results also.

hi, question, how long was it bolted down untill you measured the bores?? hours or minutes??

funny you should ask. i measured immediately, and then the next day (both ways- head and deck plate). i had other things going on. it wasn't my plan. everything measured the same both times.

Do you use a head gasket when using the plate?
Is it necessary?

yes. use the same gasket you're going to assemble the engine with. if you're using head bolts (not studs), washers and/or spacers need to be used to assure the same thread engagement as the head you'll be using. details details.
