In my job I have done a lot of painting ( boats ),but none of it metalic..I tried it and it sucked...it didn't even look metalic..I was told to spray with the gun on an angle,or less pressure etc..whats the trick ??

There are a lot of factors involved!! What paint/reducer/clear/hardener are you using? What gun are you using, is your compressor large enough??

I am a professional painter, I use a Satajet 2000 HVLP gun(German). 20Lbs at the gun and 10Lbs at the cap. Adjust the fan to about 10"s wide and stay at a distance about 10"s from the panel. Remember, 50% overlap on each pass. NEVER hold the gun at an angle! Never arch the gun to lt-rt! That is what we painters refer to as HEALING the gun. Keep the gun at 90 degrees to the panel at all times. Use the correct reducer/hardener for the ambient temp outside. You may want to go to youtube and look for some vids on how to apply automotive paint. Its hard to explain by typing!
Good luck!
