I'm glad you were able to knock it out so quickly.
I think your idea is great assuming the user can select the starting point. Some folks like 160 degrees, some like 190 degrees. You need to keep the lowest speed fast enough to cool the engine below the thermostat. That way the fan will actually shut off.
