Is the Mallory 140 filter "big" enough for the Mallory 250 pump ?

I wonder if the smaller, summit, inline filter was choking the motor / fuel delivery down the track... ??

40 micron is too small for in front of the pump. 100 is more like it.

I know alot guys will come on here and tell me I'm wrong, am I? Nope

Mallory recommends a 40 micron filter for their MA 250 pump....it's right in the instructions.

I believe the Aeromotive pumps are rotary vane so that might explain the 100 micron recommendation from them ?

From what I just looked up, Mallory recomends a 100 micron filter before the pump also. High performance fuel pumps require the same IMO. If yours is working OK with a more restrictive filter, then you are not making enough HP to notice.

To the OP, FWIW Kinsler recomends not to mount filters directly to a fuel pump, because vibration can cause the filter element to bounce around inside allowing dirt to get by. I believe most are held in place by springs.
