Great call guys. I'm so used to seeing the two hole style it never dawned on me anything else existed. Went out and scrubbed the shifter and took a poor picture...Hurst Competition Plus! Now I'm left to wonder why....everything else on the car was stock, even the 14" road wheels and AM radio.
Thanks!

Changing the sloppy stock Hurst shifter mmechanisme was standard operating procedure for anyone who wanted to have a faster shift. The pistol grip was not as bad as the shifter in the 69's. I used to hit my knuckles on the dash evrytime I hit 3rd! I switched mine to a Competition Plus because it has a positive stop (adjustable bolt) for the throw of the shifts. You can take a stock pistol grip and drill it to bolt into the Competition Plus shifter. That way you maintain the stock appearance with an upgraded shifter mechanism. I would definitely keep the shifter and change the handle.

If the shifter gate is fine, and you want the original look..
Pick up a later Hurst repro handle/pistol grip lever they are about $200 for the non-console version, and does have the (2) bolt holes..

Just my $0.01..
