It runs 'ok' at best. If I put in enough base timing to get good low rpm throttle response then it doesn't start well, a start retard box would probably help. The engine has way too much piston to wall clearance, it doesn't have any blow by, but has very noticeable piston slap when cold that never really goes away.

The right solution is to take it apart, have the piston skirts coated and change from 75 cc to 88 cc heads, the wrong solution is to sell it and install an aluminum hemi.

It doesn't start very well in 35 F

You could just change the pistons , that will take care of your slap issue too ? There is a member looking for a set of those pistons ... B1 Frank , he has a thread going about pistons for use with his iron 452 heads .
