That seems...not ideal. I suppose that explains why the starter is unhappy. Apparently the little '75' stamped on the head under the valve cover was trying to tell me something. I checked cranking compression before disassembling the car to replace the frame rails and started thinking a bit more about it this morning... the eddie heads are in fact probably not 88 cc, and the great deal I got on a set of L2295F pistons might not have been the best choice. Oh well.

Do you have E85 fuel in your area? If so time to switch, you will love it scope twocents

It must have a very small camshaft. Heck my 15-1 race motor doesn't have 240 cranking.

I feel your pain brother. Since my recent cam swap I now have 220 PSI on my street/strip engine. I'm currently building a carb to give E85 a try to see if it will work out for me.

How does it run?

It runs 'ok' at best. If I put in enough base timing to get good low rpm throttle response then it doesn't start well, a start retard box would probably help. The engine has way too much piston to wall clearance, it doesn't have any blow by, but has very noticeable piston slap when cold that never really goes away.

The right solution is to take it apart, have the piston skirts coated and change from 75 cc to 88 cc heads, the wrong solution is to sell it and install an aluminum hemi.

It doesn't start very well in 35 F

after a few minutes it starts better.

You could just change the pistons , that will take care of your slap issue too ? There is a member looking for a set of those pistons ... B1 Frank , he has a thread going about pistons for use with his iron 452 heads .

My old 1970 Barracuda that I raced in NHRA A/S class with a 426 street hemi motor would start way better when it was cold after I replaced the Chrysler race electronic with an old MSD 404 B box (new at that time, probably no longer good ones around :whiney):and the proper MSD coil for that box, way, way better starting, especially when cold (25F up to 40F) up scope twocents
