One thing to be concerned about seeing you are on the Coast is the type of cooling the engine had , fresh water or raw water . If raw water , and this was an ocean vessel , the salt water can eventually do a number on the cylinder walls from the cooling side . If it had a closed /fresh water system with a heat exchanger that is obviously lessened .


If it turns out the block is scrap from the rust, all of the stuff will bolt up to regular 440 block except the pistons. If I was going to go through the motor,I would build the 440 anyway as there are a lot more options for reasonable priced pistons.
