Look at the difference in the amount of material between the holes and the circumference of plates pictured.

Obviously a considerable loss of strength there.
Anyone have a pic of a MOPAR OE plate to compare?

I would imagine the ability to resist deformation when torqueing the cracked plate
is compromised and leads to failure. My observation.

PS The failed plate pictured is what's installed on our 440. The inspection plate is coming off
at the next opportunity!!
