^^^ Agree. It wouldn't make much sense to introduce, in mass quantity: 1. An extra part not required 2. A possible point/cause of failure (washer in carb). I would bet Chrysler - and 99% of customers - had absolutely zero concern for wingnut damage to the air filter lid.
