I have an old truck with its stock 440 that has sat outside for many years. I am working on getting it running again and found that there is quite a bit more fluid in the pan then there should be (haven't drained it yet, but it is black). The hood has been closed, but the radiator is dry. It has not been run all these years. We have winter here and my concern is that it has a cracked block and the antifreeze/water has leaked into the pan. I was planning on changing the oil and starting it up after priming the oiling system. I am confident it will start. Is there any other explanation for the extra fluid in the pan?
