Let me explain "theft by deception":
That's where you provide proof that the person you contracted already knew in advance:
1. he is going to steal your parts
2. he knew what he told you to be false, intended to overcome any hesitation on your part, and without which you would not have given him the work
3. and keep the money
4. and reject any communication

Do you have this proof?


I did. Guy took down payment money for a car that didn't exist. Used the name of an acquaintance as a reference. I was dumb, lucky to get my cash back. Wouldn't have except for friends who had friends in the right places.

Seems to me these things did happen in this case. Who knows what was in his heart 2 years ago. People should not be allowed to do this crap with impunity. Failing that, people should be able to take matters into their own hands. Tired of seeing crooks have all of the protections under the law.
