Lighter wheels are a toss up. 17 inch wheels have a limited amount of Extreme Performance Summer sizes unless your are happy with 255/40-17's. 18 inch wheels will have a much wider range of performance tire sizes. That in turn will make the tire heavier. You really want wider and stiffer wheels because it will transfer more hp/tq to the road. This should translate to faster track times.
