How come it was built to only 12 to 1 compression?

That is leaving some power on the table.
I think it's running pump gas.
I believe it's actually 12.54-1 (according to my dyno sheet anyway!) and it is a pump gas deal.

Yes, it was because of pump gas, and just staying on the cautious side. 12.5:1 will be safe with that cam/stroke/rod etc. on the fuel we can readily get up here.
I ask because I'm talking to him now about an aluminum block deal....I just don't want to run a std. block if I don't have to but I also don't need a year long project in a block!

Brian, I think it is worth looking into doing, from the sounds of it, they are coming around. Maybe I will give you a call later this week to have a quick chat about the block.
