I guess you're still having a little trouble comprehending the difference. It's even in the definition that you just posted. Ponder on the words "motive power" for a little.

I guess the internal combustion part is what's throwing you off ....in that example, the transmission could be called the "motor" since that's what's supplying the motive power from the power source.


This back and forth seems a lot like the whole spark plug wide gap vs narrow gap thread......you had a little trouble grasping what some of the other guys were saying then too.
