Actually the points become just a trigger and carry no load...So they last much longer...But IMO why keep the points and have another area to deal with when the electronic conversion takes that out of the equasion....
I have the tach adapter on one vehicle and it works fine you'll need to hide it with the MSD...Biggest problem I have is the old tachs don't move as fast as a new one...If you've got a fast revving engine it'll pass the tach during the sweep if you blip the throttle in neutral... Engine is coming back down while the tach is still on the way up/hovering...
