Actually at the starting line I dont need to hear the eng as I just look at the tach there and come up on the converter to about 2000. Thats about the only time I really use the tach in a normal pass. Sometimes I make myself look at the tach so I can see where I am shifting at. When I raced my 340 Dart four speed I usually only used the tach when launching. I would bring the rpm's up to about 5000 as the tree started and then on the last yellow let the clutch out as the gas pedal went to the floor. I was very consisdent in that low 12 high 11 Dart also. Ran 12.17 three passes in a row one night. To bad I rolled that car but I have to admit I like my 63 better. Ron
