I'd do Po'boys' trick & tap one of the holes in the flat plate CCW & see if turning the flat plate will grab the nut/insert & get it coming out. If not I'd as said grind a socket end chamfer flat & then keep the socket on the nut square as your trying to break it loose. Rob, most if not all the ones I've seen HAVE the 3/8" socket drive hex in there.You are not getting senile....
