I once thought that was what I was chasing down, went through 3 gaskets, 2 pans and thought it was still leaking, turned out to be the shaft seal.

others have seen it be the 0 ring at the dipstick tube.

don't waste a lot of time and money on the pan if you have not checked above it yet.

Same here(after 2 different pans & installing reusable gasket),it was the shaft seal,D
