Use a couple of helpers or a transmission jack. I cut the end of my finger practically clean off. I got the trans down out of the car no problem (back when I is in much better shape). But then I had to set it down. It slipped and landed on the end of my finger. A bunch of gauze and a tube of neosporen, and it healed. But did it hurt for a while.
