I am going to run over to HF tonight and see what they have. I think a second tool for this would be nice leaving the jack handy if needed during the process.

It is the alignment while it mid-air that is the problem, I agree.

The longer stud idea is a good one, not sure what kind of space I am going to have with an A-body tunnel. When I mocked in the car I installed the tranny/bell/block as one. Not sure I am going to do that this time with a fresh paint job in the engine compartment.
