N96 = fresh air hood C16 = console 97 = bright green met. special order 97 = upper door color as above P6C = premium buckets F8 = interior color - dark green V21 = performance hood treatment RS = GTX 23 = 2dr hrdtp E86 = 440, 4bbl htr. D21 = 4spd 423 = april 23rd 1969 SPD 235801 = VON vehicle order number.
.....ok, how'd I do?

you did pretty good except
03149 is Gate and sequence number
262142 is the body number ... something like that , this number is NO WHERE but on the lynch rd. tag , not on broadcast sheet or any other piece of paper I have seen.
68 is V68 , Lynch Rd. left off the V, sport stripe, longitudinal tape ... DELETED .

03= gate 149 = base number 262919 = sequence number or basically the way John described it.
69 LR coded C16 for both the console and the buddy seat so just seeing this code on the tag really doen't tell you which it recieved.
paint code 97 GTX= VERY uncommon.
97 and 97 paint code = roof and body were Rallye Green
P6C = blue and white interior. The code is actually P6G for green interior to go with the exterior. (The tail is missing from the G. Compare the G to the C in C16) F8 = UDF color
Yes. nice car

So the roof was painted 97 but a black vinyl top put over it? Also, the V68 longintudinal stripe delete would be the stripe following the missing rocker trim? Is there anyway to tell if the car had the trim deleted without attacking the paint? Anyone ever see a 69 GTX without the trim from the factory? I am not up on these cars, I only know Darts, so any info would be appreciated!
I should have known the 68 was V68!! seems I could remember that 1X was V1X but not that 68 was V68........I have no excuse! Oh well, I am getting better!
I would imagine that the 97 code paint is VERY rare.....I wonder if anyone has the '69 paint percentages for GTX's.
Dave
You can argue with me if you like ... ..
Upper door color is F8 , it's the code after the P6G

Vinyl roof or not the code is there on the tag for the upper body paint in 1969. I don't know if it was possible to delete the lower body black out on the 69 GTX ?
Since the car has been repainted does it matter if the original paint was disturbed ?
The F8 on the car looks good, I don't want to disturb the new paint to see if the holes were filled for the trim. Are any of the holes visible from the inside, like on the fender or door?
Should be. I just had to find two (one on each side) of the 23-25 holes (each side, about 50 total) that got filled in with body filler and that was easy for one because of the oooze of filler on the back side of the hole. Look inside of the trunk or remove the front inner fender seal where the antenna is (can see it from the door jam) or look/feel on top of the wheel openings where the wheel opening trim get screwed in place. If you look closely at the right rear quarter panel here you will see that one of the five trim holes is not there. The trim holes between the rear bumper and the right rear wheel opening are equal distances apart and you can see where one should be. I went into the trunk and there was a small, very small dome of filler there and I took a very small drill bit and worked through it by hand and then increased the size (all by hand) until it was back to the original size.
With about 46 original holes for the GTX trim (not including the approximately 16 wheel opening trim holes) I'm betting you can find at least one....maybe two if they were there in the first place.
MikeR
Note #3 hole (middle) is missing but you can see the placement from inside the trunk, at least I could on my car

Thanks for all the replies. Maybe the car I am looking at was supposed to be an A12 and yours a GTX?
James would you do a favor for me and check to see if my broadcast sheet is in your car.......I'll check the RR for your sheet in the mean time
Be interesting to know the date code on the K-frame, my K-frame date code is 120 9 (April 30, 1969)

It is not my car, I inspected it for a client who is looking to buy a 69 GTX. I am waiting to here if he wants it or not, but I do plan on going back and checking it out further. He said that there was no broadcast sheet found when the seats were out for the new carpet, but no other place they can be found at has been checked yet.
