Hi!

I was wondering if the Barton HEMI Rocker System (the one with the individual shafts) is really worth it over lets, say, a Stage V roller rockers system.

Thanks!

Domingo

Depends on cam lift and usage. The OEM style rocker gear has high side loads, and can be a pain to get oiling to the tips of the push rods. I generally have to replace the titanium lash caps each year. The guys running the Barton set-ups run more lift and rpm than I do with few issues. My cam is .780" lift with lots of spring pressure and I street it. If my heads could run them, I would.Stage V is really good, but I think the benifits from the newer design becomes a must at a certain point.

right......besides, a nice roller setup with stage V roller rockers, hardened thick wall shafts, aluminum stands, etc isnt cheap as well....might as well go for the good stuff from the get go an be done with it!

The Barton piece is made by T&D & is a beautiful piece. Expensive, but very nice...

I bought them, but my engine is so mild it didn't need them, that's for sure.
And NOBODY better complain about cost, as when I bought them the dollar was at 62 cents. I paid almost $5000 for my rockers.

Do you have to do any drilling or machine work to fit the Ray Barton individual rocker set up? They even look expensive.

Short answer.....you don't "need" them for what you're building. Just buy a set of rockers that have a track record of keeping pushrod cups oiled sufficiently, and their ratios are close to the advertised numbers.

Money well spent, not a problem in five years.

They will be for a 4,5 bore hemi,4,375 billet crank, stage V CNC raised exh port heads, pump gas.....want to shoot for 900 hp? maybe more if possible....

If I got a set of those I would need to get a set of Charlie Westcott"s [ Hemi Mallitia ] see through valve covers.

I had to do some minor grinding to make them sit flat on a new set of stage V hemi head motor. They are the proverbial cat meow for a high (800 up) lift cam. Price must have went up--last set i bought was $3400.

Barton assembled mine, it's the first and only engine I've had built for me by somebody else.

Great looking rocker setup, but they obviously look exactly like every other rocker system once the valve covers are on....

Great subject..
How would the T&D's compare vs the Jesels?
How would the Stage V's live, say in comparison, considering side-loading issues on valves? ...what would the expected reduction in valve guide/value wear life be?
