Is it possible to bore/hone a block an additional .010 over?? My block is now .030 over would like to go .040 over. Any info. would be great. Not sure if this would be a machine shop no no. Thanks-Mackey

It is very possible, what type(BB,SB or Hemi) and year block are you asking about? I have had many blocks that where at .020 over honed to .030 and even .040 over if you don't know if the cylinder walls are good or not see if you can have it sonic tested first before deciding on what to do

i do it all the time. it's not a big deal. make sure they use a torque plate on it when honing. no need to bore it for only .010 more.

Make sure you can get pistons in that size before
you do it

Thanks guys, I will go to the machine shop this week and talk to them. It is a sb and the bore currently is 4.030 and 4.040 pistons seem to be available for a 4in. stroke from probe and wiseco, not sure on what brand I will be going with, I hae run Ross for years now.

Diamond also has a 4.040 piston for the 4" stroke
