I know Mickey Thompson did this, but I spoke with an engine builder, who is know for major failures, he was in my shop getting parts. Well, I was showing him my Demon build, hes a chevy guy, and didnt really care, but I was telling him I have to clearance a little bit on the push rod holes. Indybrocks have an offset rocker, and they are too close for comfort on the bottoms of the heads. Get this, He accually told me to stick the pushrods in a press and bend them just a touck to clear the heads.  I said these are custom manton pushrods, and I dont want to shorten them, and I thought he was NUTS for blurting out that. He said they wont get shorter, At this time thank god the phone rang for service. I couldnt believe what I heard outa his mouth. Just goes to show ya that you have to reserch everything you have done anymore. If I took this guys shop a slug of race parts to build me an engine, and I heard this outa his mouth, Id load it up, and drive off QUICKLY!!! Just thought you guys would find this funny. KAsey

Well this is the same guy who told one of my customers to straighten his bent pushrod in his 360 mopar. He said mopars have a better pushrod geometry and are easier on them so if one is straightened its should be fine. He honestly is a kill to listen too. He is one of those guys who doesnt have much of a variation in his talk and ya dont ever know if he is serious or not, but when he starts talkin about his sbc stuff he gets really amped. Very funny, I should record his someday, that would be a little illegal i think, but funny as hell on here. Kasey

What works on a SB Chevy definitely doesn't work on a Ford or Mopar  not for long at least if you follow his suggestions   He must not be a farmer, they have a lot of common sense

Well if you bend it besure you gusset the back side of it to reduce flex LOL.

Actually, I'm will to bet he was just pulling your chain to see what kind of reaction he's get.
Kinda like when I told an old-timer know-it-all I had a of Metric tube cutter tool. He was pizzed I had a tool he didn't have....

Well I would have origionally thought the same thing but when my customer came to him with his bent pushrod outa his 360, this guy told him he would straighten it for him and he could stick it back inn when he got back.
He came to my shop with it in his hand, still bent, but shocked.

maybe we need to come up with "flexible" pushrods, just bend to fit 
-65 Valiant,420", all motor,2700#, dot tires, 8,42 @ 160,2

.......done the exact same thing in a 400/512 running 3/8th pushrods , bent a couple of ex push rods , no time to get another set so hammered the rods straight & ran it.
