I need to replace the power steering hose on my car and I bought one from NAPA and it does not seem to be the correct one, or I should say that the one that I bought does not match the one that is on the car. Could someone post pictures of what each end should look like so I can determine which hose that I have is correct? The hose that I am referring to is the one with fittings on both ends. I believe that I have the Saginaw type pump and both of my current hoses (NAPA new and existing) measure around 28" long. I have looked up the hose on YO and they show that they should be 35" long so I am confused which one I should have for the car. Thanks

I took a couple of pictures of what the existing pump/hose ends look like. Maybe this will help determine which pump I have and which hose I need.
#1 Thanks

Did you buy that current hose at one time? Usually that style hose comes out of the steering box pointed forward. Wonder if someone bent it up.
The 71 340 or 383 sagninaw E-body hose should work with that.
BTW that pump has a later square resivour 74? up style. Check if you current pump pressure inlet is a 3/8" Male Inverted Flare. That's a replacement pump you have that might not have the 70 fitting size (sort of looks like the right one in you pic though).
Gates p/n 352840 Pressure Line Assembly; 5/16" Female SAE x 3/8" Male Inverted Flare x 34 1/4" W/Saginaw P.S. Pump for 71 E-body with 340 and saginaw pump.

P/S Hose End Type : 5/16" Female S.A.E. x 3/8" Male Inv. Flare Power Steering Hose Imperial Length : 34 1/4" I found your description to match another one at NAPA that I can pickup. http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Detail.aspx?A=NPS7610_0135925189&An=599001+101970+50020+2020006 That is a replacement pump and the hose was on the car when I bought it 9+ years ago. I will trade in my current new hose for the hose with the above description. Thank you

So the NAPA 71574 worked fine for your 340/Saganaw even though the description shows it for a 383/440? Does it matter if i need a 3/8 inverted flare versus a 3/8 o-ring type? I agree, my current hose does not look like the correct application. Does the 71574 go behind, or underneath the ps pump?
Thank you very much.

Yes, absolutely critical. You have inverted flare right?

I am not sure if I have the flare or the o-ring, I have not had that hose off yet. I was waiting to remove it once I had a hose that looked correct first. I will be picking up a NAPA 71574 tonight. It has the o-ring but I will try it and see. Thanks for the picture.

Auto, I finally got around to testing the 1574 hose from NAPA. What I found is that the NAPA hose has a female fitting for the power steering box (right end of the below picture), and my power steering box has a female thread (ref the #1 picture at the top of this thread). So I would need a male/male fitting to make this hose connect. Does this sound right? The fitting at the power steering pump end looks fine but the bend is wrong. I could rebend the metal tube to make it work though. If I can find a fitting to adapt this hose, I will bend it to fit. I wonder if I have a replacement power steering box that is messing this up along with the replacement pump combo too.
Update: I just checked a 74 Challenger 360 ps hose and it does have the 5/16 male o-ring fitting for the ps box. I must have a 74 box then. I could not find the correct adapter so I have ordered the NAPA #7-6115 hose that has the correct ends but the bend in the tube will need to be modified. Thanks
