Sixt8Chrgr OP member S Joined: May 2010 Posts: 177 NC	I have a mildly modified 440 in my 68 Charger will I be ok with the Chrome box for my new electronic ignition or should I stick with the orange box?

john e member J Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 105 Florida, USA.	I'm fixin to install electronic on my '69 Coronet. So what are my options instead of the orange box? Where to find a good one? How will the Chrome hold up for everyday use? The last conversion I did was about 10 years ago, no problems with the orange units then. Street racing is a mystery to most people, but I've got it figured out. If it blows up with a single 4, go dual quads. If that goes, inject it. And fix it fast.

If you didn't know, make sure you install an electronic voltage regulator when you install the electronic ignition. It's required, 69's have point style voltage regulator. Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

Before my car went into the body shop i put 6000+ miles on my car a year for 3 years with no problems. My girlfriends Dart right now has an ornage box for 2 years now with no problems however she only put on maybe 100 miles on it

I run chrome boxes on everything now- my motorhome has a chrome box. Trouble free. My only deviation is my Jensen Interceptor. I went with an FBO setup, it works awesome. CrAzYMoPaRGuY

Myself I would use a pertronix reliable and easy to install and have never given me a problemI have used all the mopar wonder boxees and own all except the gold. The stock box works every bit as good and I saw no et advantage period

'84 D150 Shorty Pickup Man Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 738 TN	I still vote HEI I'm biased cuz I got HEI it smoothed out the idle, makes for crisper acceleration, and I noticed the other day, that when I downshift and let off the gas it isn't poppin out the exhaust anymore, which tells me that its burnin the fuel better

Not sure what the white paste is made of, all I know is it helps to transfer the heat the heat sinc, so your module won't fry. As to which component is helping the most, I think its 50/50. The module is has better capabilities, especially in higher RPM's, and the coil fires hotter, so together...KABLAM

Reportedly GM back in the early 70's hired some retired NASA space scientists who subsequently developed the HEI module . I've ran it & it does kick out one heck of a spark & Jacobs ign also reports that it it the only module that increases dwell as rpm increases. live every 24 hour block of time like it's your last day on earth

I'm glad they retired, as most GM guys can tell you those HEI modules were very prone to failure. My buddy's Dad had GM cabs in the early 80s and used to toss spare modules in the glovebox of every cab. CrAzYMoPaRGuY
