Well its time for some new drag tires for the rear. My charger weighs 4000 lbs and runs 12.50-.60 et. I need some good tires that hook and will last me awhile. What do you guys think?

i run 29x9 Hoosiers
-7 inch wheel
-no tubes
-12.5 psi - 14 psi
i've put 25 passes on my car in the last 2 weeks at 2 different tracks. 60 fts. were 1.55(best) to a 1.61(worse). 2 different tracks, in really hot/humid conditions and on slippery/greasy race tracks.
-i'll be changing to a 8 inch wheel in the winter. i think the 7 inch wheel is wearing out the side walls prematurely. i'm only getting about 80 passes out of a set.-
*these are examples of my experiences- yours may vary !!

Whatever tire you get, get the widest rim you can fit. The wider the rim in relation to the tread width, the more air pressure you can run. Adjust the air until you get a flat, even footprint and you will have a more stable sidewall at launch as well as the top end. Many Stock racers use a 10" rim with 9" slicks. We are limited to a 9"x30" tire. I run a lightweight Hoosier radial with 21.5lbs of air in my 3,540+ lb car. However, for bracket racing, a bias ply slick will be more consistent and may take a pound or so less air. Optimum tire pressure will vary in each application because of different vehicle weight, suspension, converter, gearing, etc.

I used to run M/T slicks, and switched to Hoosier.A friend of mine was running Hoosiers, and getting more life out of them ,so I switched, and get better tire life.Plus you can run them tubeless without problems.

I've been running the hoosier 27 11.50 QTP these are the only tires I have run. Maybe I'll look at the 29x10" QTP, I really dont want to run tubes if I dont have to. I believe my rims are 15x8" so I think they will work fine.

I street drive/race w QTP`s in the 29x13.5 size on a 12" rim and they drive well on the street(dry weather of course)and hook good at the track. I`m going on two years and lots of street miles and there`s still good tread life left.

Go with Phoenix. They last a LONG time and always hook well.Best results will be with the use of tubes.

No tire company, invests more R&D in their small tires than M/T.

I ran the 29 x 11.5 Hoosier QTP's on my 63 street/strip car and had a best 60 of 1.59 and they held up good but rubbed to much on turns. So when I looked for a 9" drag radial at 29 to 30" tall no one made any. Every 29 or 30" tall drag radials are at least 10.5 inches wide and sometimes rub a bit on turns in my stock wheelwell so I bought the 30 x 9 radial Hoosier slicks. My best 60 on them is a 1.57 and I have been driving them on the street since April 09 or over a year and they still have plenty of tread. They actually handle fine on the highway and the other roads. I even got caught in the rain once and I took it real easy for 40 miles with no problem. But I mean I took it real easy. Ron
