Whatever tire you get, get the widest rim you can fit. The wider the rim in relation to the tread width, the more air pressure you can run. Adjust the air until you get a flat, even footprint and you will have a more stable sidewall at launch as well as the top end. Many Stock racers use a 10" rim with 9" slicks. We are limited to a 9"x30" tire. I run a lightweight Hoosier radial with 21.5lbs of air in my 3,540+ lb car. However, for bracket racing, a bias ply slick will be more consistent and may take a pound or so less air. Optimum tire pressure will vary in each application because of different vehicle weight, suspension, converter, gearing, etc.
