I have a MP .590 cam but it came with no information as to where it should be degreed in. I know there are two versions; my part number ends with 663 (no suffix).

Not sure if this helps but I believe the old Direct Connection spec called for it to be installed at 104. BTW: My zero deck, flat piston, .030 over 440 w/915 closed chamber ported iron heads, and that cam made 565 HP @ 6200 and 520 ft/lbs @ 4900 rpm with an M1 single plane and 850HP. I installed mine at 104. My compression is 11.25:1 Don't know if this helps......but......... I like that cam................

Would this cam still be pump gas friendly (93 octane) with aluminum heads and say 11 to 1 compression? Would it be worth it to use this cam in a 493 at that point for a street/strip car?
Seems like it would not be too difficult to build a 600HP 493 with MCH Eddy RPM heads and a Holley Street Dominator and thei cam? Flat tops? Maybe? Just bench racing....

HA HA , not entirely snooping Keith. A couple of years ago you sent me a used .590 in great shape, I just had to pay the shipping. I am trying to build a combination in my mind that I can use it now. The .590 seems to be a cam that will get a 493 close to the 600HP mark with MCH stage I ported Eddy RPM's.... Or at least I am hoping. Like to get my '67 R/T in the 11's..... Michael

you should be well into the 11's w/ that combo, You could probably get into the 11's w/ a 557.

I have that cam with unported 88cc eddy heads and just a .030 over 440 and I am in the mid 11's with a 4.10 gear. Runs fine on pump gas too.

Ron (383man) runs 11.4? with the .557 cam in a 3700lb pump gas street car through the mufflers.
