I have a MP .590 cam but it came with no information as to where it should be degreed in. I know there are two versions; my part number ends with 663 (no suffix).

With 10 Sec 440!, Great Cam!

It will perform just as well against the latest/newest modern design cams in most cases of similer size.

Its actual true .050 lift duration dimensions are around 271 @.050 vs the advertized 265 @.050 as measured by Dwayne Porter, Me and a few others around here.

Most users of it like it installed at around a 99*to 102* ICL if intake valve clearence allows.

Great cam , Mike

I was in the same situation you are in. I telephoned mopar performance and the guy emailed me the cam card. It was simple. Hope this helps.

I installed it 2* advanced (from straight up) and found I had too much torque, retarded it 4* (2* from straight up) and it calmed the car down, but really didn't slow it down much.

Not sure if this helps but I believe the old Direct Connection spec called for it to be installed at 104.

BTW: My zero deck, flat piston, .030 over 440 w/915 closed chamber ported iron heads, and that cam made 565 HP @ 6200 and 520 ft/lbs @ 4900 rpm with an M1 single plane and 850HP. I installed mine at 104. My compression is 11.25:1

Don't know if this helps......but.........

I like that cam................

Would this cam still be pump gas friendly (93 octane) with aluminum heads and say 11 to 1 compression? Would it be worth it to use this cam in a 493 at that point for a street/strip car?

Seems like it would not be too difficult to build a 600HP 493 with MCH Eddy RPM heads and a Holley Street Dominator and thei cam? Flat tops? Maybe? Just bench racing....

I run it in a 10/5.1cr w aluminum heads street car, I am happy with it. Runs fine on pump gas in a 470 low deck.

That sounds almost exactly like the combination I am planning for the 67 R/T I just picked up,....have you been snooping around in my shop?

Hey Kev, Big Bill was running 10.80's with that cam in his old 440 dart. Everybody seems to like it.

HA HA , not entirely snooping Keith. A couple of years ago you sent me a used .590 in great shape, I just had to pay the shipping. I am trying to build a combination in my mind that I can use it now. The .590 seems to be a cam that will get a 493 close to the 600HP mark with MCH stage I ported Eddy RPM's.... Or at least I am hoping.

Like to get my '67 R/T in the 11's.....

Michael

you should be well into the 11's w/ that combo, You could probably get into the 11's w/ a 557.

I have that cam with unported 88cc eddy heads and just a .030 over 440 and I am in the mid 11's with a 4.10 gear. Runs fine on pump gas too.

Ron (383man) runs 11.4? with the .557 cam in a 3700lb pump gas street car through the mufflers.

I think the 3.23 gears are going to slow me down a bit.... Wondering how the .590 will like the 3.23's?

I do have a good 9 1/2 Dynamic (currently stalls a tad over 3000 in the .090 in the hole 440 I have with a Comp 470H) and a low first gear if that helps...
