Is there a post here on constructing mini tubs for the E-body? I remember an article in one of the magazines where they installed a 2-3" expansion by cutting and moving the inner wheel well inboard and filling the space with a strip of metal. The car is a 4-link so there is plenty of room without the leaf springs. My question is with the trunklid supports that are formed and tacked to the inner fenders and how to best modify/move them. Any tips here?

You do not have to move the deck-lid spring bracket when you mini tub. All you have to do is shorten it up because after you tub it, the bracket will now end up on top of the wheel-well instead of on the side of the wheel-well. I am not familiar with the e body bracket but many are two piece, this allows you to drill out the spot wells on the spring bracket and allows you to reshape it to fit back in after you mini-tub the wheel-well. I have done many mini tubs and you cannot tell it has been done when I finish except for the fact it looks wider inside the trunk. If you need more info on mini-tubs PM me. Hope this helps.

Buy a new set of AMD inner wheelhoses ,cut the old ones out leaving 3 inch wide strip ,weld new ones in ,alot less work and job is so much cleaner, I just finished mini-tubbing 69 Dart,it was a piece of cake, as mentioned above, trunk hinge bracket is a two piece, you'll have to eliminate the lower section ,on A-body I didn't even have to reshape it,it butted up nicely against the inner wheelhouse and looks factory

How much do you actually gain on an e-body with the rails being so close to the wheelhouse in back? I thought you had to notch the rail also.

Yep, you don't gain much without notching the framerail.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Moving the springs inboard will net you some tire http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/rearsusp/12.html
