Depending on what tyou are TRYING to do, determines whether or not what you have will work. The later (1970 and on) B/E body tailhousing can be put on the earlier trans. There are 4.80" bearing retainers made in both available bolt circles, so it really does come down to what you need/want to do and what you have onhand already.
