know this has been asked but my understanding of spring rate... Set spring up side down (taking in account somehow for the friction on the floor) and measure weight to make spring drop and inch?
Normally this procedure is done with bearings on the ends to reduce the friction with a cyl/piston pressing down on the load point and is measured in pounds per inch did alot of them in the lab when I worked at Chrysler... I worked on the F & M bodies transverse torsion bar suspension when it was a pre proto set up.... hand bent MANY of those bars
