Helped scale a friends car today. 71 Dart 505BB, Dana w/4.10's, TF. It's a back-half ladder bar rear. 3045 lbs w driver. LF 918 RF 851 LR 641 RR 635. It's heavier than I would have expected. For a car with a glass front end. Do you think it will leave straight and drive straight with this setup? Jim

with the correct weight in the drivers seat, you'll need 30 to 50 lbs. heavier on the right rear to get it to go straight. i think with your current weight you'll go to the right.

Well if that was with driver in seat and fuel in ..set up like it was ready to go down the track..I agree with lonnie..that look like good numbers..to start out with.

30-50 pounds on right rear is very similar to 30-50 pounds heavier on left front

I expect it to go to the right with those weights, how
hard it will go right I cant say, but if its got a lot
of torque it will go right harder than if it had lower
torque levels...... and this is assuming you did the
weights with the driver in the seat and at race weight

car needs more weight on the right rear because it wants to drive to the right.by putting more weight on the right will get it to go straight.
the front has nothing to do with driveability, you are just setting ride height with the front.as long as you get them close.

Those #'s are with the driver in the seat. Do you think it will wheelstand? 505 w/Ebrock heads, 550ish cam, Team G intake, 1000 HP carb and Hooker fenderwell headers. The converter is a TA model J that flashes 5000/5200. The owner is worried about big wheelstands. I'm thinking it make have too much weight on the front.

Its a big calculation to figure out if it will wheel
stand or not... but it is a math formula

I agree with the others.

Needs more weight on the RR.

You will find out the first pass if it does or not. The harder it leaves the more you will need.

Easiest formula would be to just start with ladder bar fronts in the upper most holes, and move down as traction dictates. If it wheelstands from that setting then gonna have to limit travel and work on shocks from there.

theres more to it than that. if your in the upper most hole and start bringing that bar down, you'll need to reset your pinion angle.

if i were you i'd just put a little more preload on the RR and try it out and go from there.

I always start out with the ladder bars in the middle hole ,,and quite frankly have never used the top hole in the front mount ,put it in the middle and start with you shock settings in the middle then move all the way up stiff on the next pass and all the other way on the next,,,go by your 60' and see what they do and adjust accordingly ,,,,, when I want to take more weight off of he front i move the front mountdown a hole ,that for me settles the car down and soffens the leave ,,you will of course have to adjust your pinion angle with each ladder bar change ,,,, and start over with your shock settings again going by your 60' ...this is what works for me ....good luck

If it were mine I would add 20 or 30 pounds to the right rear this will make it leave strait and also pull some off the left front and even out the front end weights.

These weights are very similar to other BB A body lader bar cars that I have owned and driven Cars go straight arrrow, so easy that a cave man can drive em All kidding asise those numbers are typical of a lot of BB A body ladder bar cars, go run it. the wheelie hieghts and distances will be determine by track conditions, tires, stall leaving the line and several other factors like front and rear shock adjustments and travel

theres no way to tell what the car is going to do by looking at the weights unless they are completely out of wack. looks close enough to me. go run it and find out what it does and adjust from there.
