What is the proper spec for the lugs when using wheels like Weld Rod-Lites, Pro-Star, or Drag-Lites? The have the 2 halves with the free floating aluminum center piece sandwiched in there. I have overtorqued them in the past and squashed the holes, so I want to get it right this time.

Personally I hate the idea of that aluminum piece being loose in there until it is tightened since it is never guaranteed to be in the center when you tighten it. Seem like a terrible balance issue waiting to happen.

Had the same issues, got better washers that won't deform. The thin ones are junk.
I use 100 ft lbs on my 1/2 inchers, more on the bigger ones I now have on the back.

Where do you find good ones? I used the regular included (thin) ones first which messed up the holes, then I switched to what I thought were nice thick larger o.d. ones made by Gorrila, but after I tightened them once they stuck to the lug nut and will neither spin nor come back off, so it drags against the face of the wheel as they get taken on and off. I just bought a new set of WELD lugs and washers hoping the quality will be better.

I do my 1/2" to 65ftlbs and 7/16" to 55. I got these from either Weld or ARP.

Mine are 1/2" studs and torqued to 75 ft/lbs.I think that's what Weld recommends but not 100% sure. I retorque and check before i go racing and they usually stay where they are and i use Mc Guard nuts/washers they're a good thick washer and never stick.

I've always torqued mine to 65 lbs. (pro stars) but I just googled it and it looks like the torque should be more like 90 on a 1/2 inch grade 5 fine thread. If anything, wheel studs should be at least grade 5, right?
