I Pulled apart and rebuilt the front suspension in my 68 dart. Its only a drag car and working on getting into the bottom 10 area. has stock A arm limiters or bumpers. What changes if any by adding taller limiters and would it hurt or help with 60 foot times?
Thanks!!

What type rear suspension? Trans brake or no? I have found that you will have to try limiting the up travel and the front ride hieght, torsion bar adjustments(total up travel, lower bumper hieghts) and type and adjustment of the front shocksto find out what your car likes. Some cars need different settings on different tracks for the best perforamnce

I put spacers under the stock upper A-arm bumpers to limit front end travel, when needed. I have a pair in various thicknesses:

0.080"
0.125"
0.187"
0.250"

I have used combinations up to 0.455" thick. They are basically large diameter (1.25-1.50") flat washers with a 3/8" hole.

If you put too much travel restriction in, it may spin the tires due to insufficient weight transfer. Combo dependant.

The only thing changed on my suspension is the '73-up front disc swap with 90/10 CE shocks and stock control arm stops.

In the rear is S/S springs and QA-1 12 way adjustable shocks.

If you don't have a lot of rear seperation (Cal Trac's, Ladder Bar, 4 Link) then you don't need as much front travel.

Also limiting front end travel can have an effect on your RT. I try to keep mine in the beams as long as possible

Mine likes stock travel and stock bumpers with worn out stock shocks....funny thing is I've had 3 sets of pricey shocks on the front.....yet I go back to the old Monroes....go figure...

every car can be a little different, but a general rule of thumb is that with leaf spring rear suspension most cars like to have about 5 inches of upward travel on the front of the car to help with weight transfer.

I usually only limit front end travel to control wheel stands. Less front travel will usually produce less of a wheelie. Again, it can vary with different setups.
