How hard is it to replace the front pump/converter seal while the 727 is still in the car/truck? Engine is being pulled for a swap.

easier then riding a bike, pop it out make sure everything is clean and reinstall new one

It's easy once the engine is out , BUT, the convertor can be a PITA to get out sometimes.

Would it not be easier to just the pull the engine and tranny together and put them back in together?

It's in an '84 Power Ram 4x4 truck.....the transfer case is attached the tranny.

Piece of cake. Only tricky part is removal of existing seal.

After driving the new seal in, shine a flashlight in the hole to make sure the garter spring didn't pop off of the seal.

If the convertor is hard to remove you have other issues to deal with besides a leaky seal
