Will stock 69 440 valve covers work with Crane Gold rockers (1.5) on Edelbrock heads? Any clearance issues or do I need a taller cover?

Thanks,

Steve

The rockers , at a minimum the adjusters , will hit the baffles in the cover, you'll need to raise the covers up , try doubling a gasket , if you want to keep your stock covers .

I have Comp pro magnums on my 500 with stock 440 covers and standard felpro gaskets. I did dimple the baffles just a little. They work fine for me.

I'm running '77 vintage covers with Harland-Sharps, 0.650" lift and standard cork gaskets. One still has the factory bar code on it. I did have to modify the end exhaust rockers but they have surplus material that shouldn't be there anyay. Measure the distance from the flange to the baffles and post it.

77 covers are alot taller than the 69 covers he is dealing with .

You'll have to "work" the baffles to make them work

Are you running aftermarket heads? This reason why I ask is I was told the golds would hit my sb 273 valve covers and they didn't, but........I'm running E-brock heads.

I am running edelbrock heads also. I guess I'll just have to mock it up and see.

I have 68-69 BB stock valve covers on my 505" with Stealth heads. They fit fine after hammering the baffles a bit.

Great info, thanks. I will double check my measurements on my valve covers.

I have crane gold rollers on my iron 452 heads with stock 68 covers...no hamma needed! I doubt the eddie heads have a shorter flange than stock!

Running Crane Gold 1.6 rockers on 906 440 heads, 70 valve covers, had to remove the baffles for clearance,....no issuses with oil leaks or seepage or PVC oil draw being ecessive
