I have a '71 Challenger with 315/60/15 M.T. Drag radials on it,my problem is I'm blowing the tires of the first 60'. I had a 383 in it that pushed the car 12.25-12.30 with no tire spin at all. Now I have a 470 that is not real crazy it made 644hp/603tq. I did change the vert from a 3800 to a 4500 but the rest is the same. My best is 11.01 but my trap speed 122-124 so you see I'm leaving a lot on the table. So do you think the E.T. streets would be a better tire or should I spend the money on the suspension

I did have a 1.49 60' but the car was still spinning. I thought the tires would be ok too and seeing your performance I think I have a winter project. At 124mph trap I should be 10.85-10.95 just need it to hook.

Keep the radials. I've been 1.32 sixty foot on the 295-65 M/T Radials. Nothing trick, just the basic Cal-Trac rear suspension.
What do you have for suspension? CHIP

Well when I bought the car it had air shocks so I took them off and got some cal tracks [the car back-halved] but with out the air shocks it sits to low so I had to put some coil overs on to get the hieght back.

So the car still has leaf springs? You need new ones if you have to adjust ride height w/ shocks. If you have Cal-Trac bars, call Calvert Racing and get a pair of their monoleaf springs and Rancho shocks. CHIP

Chip's right.. Get their leafs and be done with it.. I went 1.30 on radials and 1.28 with slicks.. But the radial was so much better to drive..

Another vote to give the tires a chance to work. I just ordered my 3rd set of drag radials and really don't plan on running slicks again. I have been 1.29 60's footbraking and normally click of 1.32's in good weather all day with no problem.

I have to give my props to the drag radials especially if you have a heavy car. The side walls are alot stronger/stiffer.

I had a 1.49 60' with the 275 D/R's this weekend and my best on slicks was a 1.45 so these get my vote

I have a pump gas street 3400 lbs. Duster that has gone 1:43 60. ft times on 315x60x15 M/T ET Street Radials at 10:34 and 128.6 MPH, no power adders It is a ladder bar car with coil overs and a track bar, I also have a set of 13:50x30x15 ET Street bias ply tires on the same size rims as the radials. The radials will run quicker and faster on a good track versus the bias ply tires, the bias ply tires will drive easier on a bad track and not spin at the top of first gear like the radials will on a bad track I have found that after driving the radails on the street, the first pass, no matter what kind of burn out I do , will spin bad, the second pass will hook a lot better no matter on the burn out procedures I do run between 17.5 lbs and 22 lbs in the radails and 9.5 to 11.0 lbs on the bias plys on ten inch wide rims. IHTHs BTW, if you run the air pressure to low in the radials they will not hook

How many passes are you getting out of the radials, we run them but after 3 or 4 months of going to the track they are done

I only get 45 to 50 passes out of them before chords start showing. They go bald at about 25 passes. I do a fair amount of street driving on them too though. CHIP

We go to the track 2 or 3 times a month, and if you have a good day that will be like 8-10 passes in one day, at 300 for a set of tires i am looking for something that will last longer, when the tread is there they work great no complaint, when the tread goes there goes the 60 foot.

The ET streets will last a ton longer. They will hook on a dirt road.I have run radials for a long time but I went back to ET streets. If you donot run a radial class get the ET streets. Why change the car to work on a radial when it will hook on the ETs?Its just a fad.I personally think the radials are a bad thing. On a fast car you can loop one in a heart beat.

When the tread goes there goes the 60 foot? Myself, and everyone else I know running them, have the opposite happen to us. The tires get better when the tread is gone. They hook great until the chords start showing, then I replace them. Still hook with the chords showing actually. This is the case with the M/T radials anyway. CHIP
