If you get a billet drum in there ... just use the MINIMUM "protection" that is required. You do NOT need that super-high-dollar and/or fancy-stuff since with the special-drums there is no possiblity of the trans ever coming apart.
I think you will need a shield no matter what is inside your trans in order to pass tech, it looks like 10.99 and quicker. Check out this link http://www.nhra.net/content/about.asp?articleid=34603&zoneid=101
f S .. I realize that .... hence my statement about the "minimum(NHRA legal)protection". I have a nice thick alum shield ...... and a nice lite-weight alum drum.
And how could the tech-guys KNOW what is really in the trans anyways ? .. they would have to assume you have the stocker-drum.
But anyways .. you guys with your CF shields ... you butter-your-bread any way you like.

Is there a blanket that covers the bellhousing too? I don't see much difference in cost? $316 for CF cert for 5-years $90 for blanket cert for 2-years ($225 for 5 years) + bellhousing/flexplate shield cost?
NO, and that is the reason for a shield. If you have a stock floor and fire wall the CSR type is all that will fit, and fulfill nhra requirement. The "thick aluminum" type wont fit the stock trans tunnel, and then you still need a bellhousing shield. Generally these items are for tube chassis door cars and dragsters.

I know, It's me
Everyone else has them fit the trans with no trouble, I go through 4 and none fit
Everyone else has them fit in their B bodies with out having to do much more than smak the lip of the firewall flat. Only way I get it in there is by cutting the tunnel out and fabing a new one
they must think im you,i dont have any better luck with them, and i dont have the luxury of trying it first

451 .....do you have a full explanation on the CERT-deals ? ... and how they figure out which one is good for a certain period of time or not.
THEN there is the cost of a re-CERT ? .. ??
Isn't this just another way for them to get into-our-wallets again and again ?

According to member Prosport...NO. He went with a blanket and a JW Utrabell. The ultra bell will satisfy the "flex plate, flywheel sheild" rule.
