What are some of the advantage of having adjustable rockers over non adjustable stock iron rockers on a big block 440?

I swapped to adjustable rockers on a 383 i had in the early 2000. We did it due to the large cam the PO had installed.

I went to them back in the late 70's on a 440-6 'cuda I owned, the previous owner had the heads milled and blocked decked big time to bump up the compression. I think it was around 10.5 to 1. I guess he just didn't want to buy custom pistons even back then. He had the pushrods shortened to compensate for the metal removal from the important components, but he used cheap pushrods, I tossed them after I bent to many of them and went to ISKY adjustables. End of problems. Besides, they looked cool whenever I pulled a valve-cover when some Mopar friends came over.

You can get consistent preload on all the rockers as well when running hyd lifters.

You can screw up the preload and bend pushrods or wipe out a cam lobe?

Thanks guys, that makes sense it helps be consistent across the board in relation to preloads and such, does this trnaslate into any performance gains?

No not really , your stamped rockers will have the same preload consistency across the cylinder bank. But the adjustables will probably have a closer to 1.5 ratio over the stock stamped rockers so you'll get more performance that way . But just like when running a solid cam , which is why you need the adjustables , there has to be on 2 or 3 threads showing under the rocker. You need the CORRECT length pushrods , it's not going to be cheap to make the switch if you really don't need them .
