I haven't been to a Wednesday night yet this year, so I can't comment on the track prep.
Probably due for a set though, especially if the car sat on them for a winter or two.

i get 38 to 40 and then the 60 foots get worse and worse, its not the track, its the hoosiers, soft compound. both my 63 max wedge and 65 plymouth hemi just eat up hoosiers, i went back to M/T slicks and can go 100+ passes, same burnout.

If the sixty foot is just slightly slower than before that is one thing, but if they are spinning, or sometimes spin sometimes hook; then the sidewalls may be worn out.
I was getting "low" slick life a fews years ago (90-110 passes), then I changed the chassis setup to hit the tire less, put wider rims on, added inner tubes, and this allowed me to increase air pressure 1-1.5 psi. Now I get 200 passes on my Phoenix slicks (31.25 x 12.2 W). So sometimes a setup change is the real answer.
What size tire are you running? A small tire on a heavy car with good power will be hard on slick life.
IMO, if you keep the slicks out of the sun between races and over the winter, and you don't let them sit on concrete, 2 years should not be a problem. After that the compound is getting older. During winter, the best method is to get the tires off the ground (no weight on them) and keep them out of the sun/weather. Concrete is bad for the compound.

Just one of the reasons why I went to M&H slicks. www.mandhtires.com
