Are the old Mechanical carbs still around?
I know they had acc. pumps on each carb.
Thinking of making a change after this last track day!
Stick and vacumm outboards was no fun!

I love 'em! Found this last set on ebay several years ago.

They are the old Direct Connection/Mopar Performance Racing carbs that they used to sell years ago. This last set I got was brand new, never used. Unbelievable! It will be a while until I can get the list numbers for you as the car is masked off for some finish bodywork and paint. I'll see if I can cut a little hole in the plastic and peak at the numbers for you.

I had Ben over at Promax mill off the choke horn and do a few other of his little tricks to them. They still have the linkage and such available over there.

When I was 15 I had a set on a 383 runner I bought.
I remember that the pedal was hard to push with three acc. pumps.
I sold them back then with the intake for $300.

You're not supposed to let up on the gas pedal when shifting.............

OH I never lifted, I just could not get it to leave worth a dam . best 60 ft was a 1.93 while leaving at 3000 rpm. Any higher and it would launch die then spin.Could not get into second till past the 60ft mark. After that it was great right to 6000 every shift!

i used the mechanical 6 pack carbs by direct connection also back in the mid 70's, they worked great, yes the pedal was tougher to depress but well worth it. i went from 12.teens to 11.97 with the carb swap.
iremember going into East Coast Speed shop in Yonkers NY with a shopping cart and buying those direct connection carbs as well as a Accel electronic distributor, electric fuel pump ,sun gauge,
my engine breaking up problem was solved and my plugs lasted alot longer.
i think i spent around $550.00 that day, which was huge money then.

4782 and 4783 are the #'s. I also feel they are superior to the vacuum carbs.
