No thermostat here w/ the "drop-in" Meziere pump. It doesn't try to slosh water out the radiator like you're describing. Works good enough that it's sitting out in the parking lot here at the office. CHIP

Hate to keep it off too long in the fact that thermocouple being in the wp housing inlieu of the heads (hottest spot). Experimented with that the other day when I started car without pump on and watched gauge. After about 1 min. turned on pump and gauge jumped a good 50 degrees. Don't know why head mfg. don't put a conn. in the head for that.
