A friend works at a facility that builds turbines. This baby has just been freshened and will be run in on the stand with the trans. Modified push button 727. As you can see the front bell housing is no longer there. No converter. No pump. I went over to figure out the shift cable arrangement on the stand. Pretty cool piece. Doug

That’s awesome! Have you ever seen one of them running in person?
I’ve seen the one at the Henry Ford, and I thought there was one in the Chrysler museum too, but it’s been decades.

The bank president in the town I lived close to had one of the cars that they tested. I saw the car around town several times. I never saw an engine though.

Does Jay Leno still have one Yes I believe he does although I think he "hot started" his and had to have the engine rebuilt. I have seen an article or Youtube video about the process but don't remember which. Hopefully someone else will know.

The turbine has a 900 psi pump that feeds the PS pump. Then it is regulated down to the trans and turbine. This is the same concept used in the original factory Clutch-Flite. Aftermarket builders like B&M improved on it by developing the "spider" that drives the pump via the three clutch pressure plate levers.
