My cuda has a problem lurching /creeping forward occasionally when trans brake button is pushed.

1) fluid level ok, good color, no burnt smell.
2) I believe it has a griner brake after talking to Dave at pro trans.
3) Lupo converter, new

I have checked and replaced some of the wiring at the solenoid and have 12 volts. After a pass, sometimes the brake won’t hold the car at all. I have googled the hell out of this question, but most of the answers are power glide related. Car backs up fine and still shifts through all 3 gears normally. I have not pulled pan off yet. Any of you had this problem before?

Thanks

The lip seal on the piston flips or a section of the seal comes off allowing a pressure leak.

Not sure about exactly how the brake operates, but simply you hold the trans in reverse and low at the same time release reverse and away you go. Put a pressure gauge on it, 727 is blessed with a port for every circuit, any internal leaks should show up. And if you are getting help over the phone those pressure numbers will help with the advice, they give you.

The most common issue I have found is the reverse spool in the VB sticks due to debris (fines from wear). I used to double hit the Brake button to help but routine cleaning was the only insurance to prevent it...

In 1st gear the rear clutch and lower roller and/or rear band are applied. When engaging the brake the forward clutch is applied. If it creaps forward my feeling is the low roller isn't set or the rear band isn't holding sufficiently.

I am guessing you may have have an older Turbo action brake or something similar - they were known to do that - Try bringing the idle up before you set it

Bring the RPMs up - like 2500 - before you roll into the bottom bulb. It takes awhile for the fluid to fill those areas otherwise.

Old TA brakes did that and their instructions included this info. Never had an issue with a Griner, even on a pro tree.

Clearances and spring load in the high drum clutch pack can be adjusted also.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

As an aside, I have never had to raise the idle up to make the Transbrake function normally. This issue has just started to happen gradually. Guess I’ll have to pull it out and have it checked.

I had a similar issue with my griner LBA transbrake. "Keith" told me the rear band wasn't adjusted tight enough. If memory serves he said it needed to be 1/16 to 3/16 play at the servo arm. Haven't had a problem since . Hope this helps.

Any time I had a slight “creep” (car moves forward slightly when brake applied) usually a new set f Teflon pump stator seals were in order. That was with my Tranz-act & Griner.
