Good day all
I have a drive shaft from a 60's c-body that I am shorting. It has an inertia ring and 1330 end yoke on the transmission end. It did not come with the slip yoke.
I found this DANA SPICER 2-3-14031X slip yoke at Dennys drive shafts. It states that it will not fit a 727 or 833.
It looks like it should fit, given the listed dimensions, see link. https://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/p1...ip_yoke_1330_series_29_based_on_30_.html

So why wont it fit in a 727?

I trust Denny's Drive shafts, mostly because other sites list it as fitting the 727.

A 7290 727 slip yoke and the 5-7437x conversion u-joint will take care of my issue, just hoping to keep it simple.

Any one have any input?

It does not fit because it is a different model slip shaft. Just look at the specs between the two.

OK now I see that the inside spline diameter on the 7290 yoke is 1.312" and the 1330 is 1.284" So the yoke I'm after is .028" smaller.

So grinding the ID larger on the 1330 will not guarantee it will fit and hold up?

Why would you even consider that. Just get the correct yoke and your golden.

How badly do you want to get hurt when that type of mod fails?

The spline angle on later 30-spline slip yokes is different. In pic below the 727 is on the left.

I can not say for sure based on those numbers but I have seen many driveshafts in 4wd and especially 2 piece driveshafts where the yoke does not need to slip much either because of a second slip yoke (2 Piece shaft) or very limited slip yoke travel.

On those driveshafts the factory often used shorter slip yokes.

Most factory slip yokes have a spline-less area inside at the front to accommodate a seal on the output shaft that was used for a few years (see my pic above). Aftermarket yokes usually don't.

Thanks John_Kunkel for the picture and reply. That's the information I was looking for.

Because I have the ability and the means too. I have not been able to find a 1330 / 727 slip yoke,

I don't want to get hurt or hurt anyone, That is one reason I ask questions in an open forum.

Lets be nice, all day
