I don't do alot of ring and pinion set up. But I've never seen one that clears the entire tooth on drive and coast. Preload is correct. .008" back lash, .033" pinion shim. Original shim was under the pinion head bearing race. It was ".031. It's 9 case 8 3/4. Also odd is that the crush sleeve eliminator came with about .060" worth of shims. It needed .088" to get to 25in/lb of pinion preload. I double checked the pinion races to be set flush. No burrs underneath. This is a new factory 2.76. Timken bearings.

That sure is a strange pattern that I have never seen before. I just wonder how it would sound and it may run hot with that much contact

have build 1000s of rear ends in my life never seen one come out like that. So is 489 case 8 3/4 . So it has the big pinion with the large taper crush sleeve .

What's the pinion look like?

Looks like the wipe is a hair below the crown and not rolling off the crown, and a hair above the root (root would be bad). It also appears it's not rolling off the toe (which would be OK), but is rolling off the heel (which is OK). Technically I'm not sure the pattern gets any better than that with lots of conatct area and no crown or root issues. Yep, run it.

New or used Ring and Pinion gears?
What brand are they?

It is a 1 7/8" tapered pinion. The is a new factory gear set. Date 0- 25 -73 pn 2070684-2.76 There was no gear in the case when I got it. The gear wasn't in a box either. Both ring and pinion had a "D" painted on them in white.

The only time I ever had a rear end rebuilt the guy doing it smeared the grease on about 5 teeth, rotated the pinion about one turn and showed me the pattern was correct. In this case I think you've overdone it - turned it so often that the grease has spread out and erased the contact pattern. Wipe it all off and try it again on a small spot with only one rotation.

I have only seen a clean wipe pattern like that on used gears.

I agree, to much grease on the gear, just put on the face of tooth, clean and do small area once around, won’t hurt

The compound should be used sparingly, not globbed on. However, if there is an area where the gears aren't in contact, the stuff won't be rubbed off. Rotating the assembly around a few times to catch clean teeth on the pinion will make the pattern more distinct.

Compound left on the pinion is also helpful to observe.

use less compound and make sure you have a load on it

There was only a light coating on 3 teeth only. The other teeth have a " ghosted" pattern that shows the same image. The ring gear was loaded.
