What wheels are those Tony? I like em. Billet specialties . Rears are 15x12 I think they are 4” backspace . 10.5 x 29.5 bracket radials for now . This is going to be a street car / 10.0 index / pro dial bracket race car . ……. For now 😂

Nice Hinder. I use the 9" in everything I build for play cars , and have no complaints. Probably been a half dozen of them and I have yet to hurt one , from milder deals with 31 spline to 35 spline for the quicker cars. Stock N cases at a minimum , but most got Strange with the 3.25 housing bore. My first was an HRW case...........USA made back then. But I don't think they are around anymore. That was a hunk-o-iron.

Nice I may be moving to a 9" soon. Just can't seem to find pro gears in 3.91 or below for a Dana

Monte Smith always said that eventually you get to the point where you start bending housings...with a Dana, there's nothing you can do to stop it. This is less likely to happen with really narrow housings like on a big tire car (depending on the power level of course). On a small tire car w/ stock style suspension (wide housing), especially on a drag radial, this is more of an issue. I talked this over w/ him and he advised me to keep an eye on the housing and when (not if) it bends, to bite the bullet and change rears. Keep in mind, he's not talking about a 700 hp bracket car on slicks. Every part of a race 9" is aftermarket, so the stock 9" strength argument need not apply here.

I am still running a Dana 60 in my Challenger. However, mine is an old 1 ton Dodge Ram axle I cut down and narrowed. They have thicker wall tubes. If I remember correctly they are 3/8" or 1/2" wall thickness. Also added ultra light weight spool, 40 spine gun drilled axles with 5/8" studs. Billet custom made caps and girdle support rear cover as well as additional structured welded/bracing to housing. Going to be hard to break or bend it.
Funny thing is all of my buddies that run 9" never swap the center sections once a gear ratio is chosen, so the simplicity of just being able to swap center sections never helps.

We all know then Brits can screw up a 50 ton wrecking ball in a sandbox with feather Just kidding My 2850 Lb. S/P Cuda has hundreds of runs on the used 4:56 Dana brand pickup gears running in the high eights at 148+ MPH Different folks get different results

Nice upgrade. Probably the majority of modified Mopars over here in Australia have 9" rears.
Dana 60 and 8 3/4" rears and their parts aren't everywhere, and in most cases parts are a special order.

Challenger is over 4000lbs and to be fair, it was a set of street gears that bust.
